Park Manager – Silver Lake Estates

Position Summary

  • To manage the daily operations of the park and lake at Silver Lake Estates located in Silver Lake, Ohio. This is an hourly position and is approximately 40 hours per week from April through December and 20 hours per week from January through March.

Job Duties

Maintenance

  • Empty trash, clean restrooms and perform general maintenance duties
  • Complete minor repairs (electrical/plumbing/welding/small engine/boat) general repairs on all facilities & equipment
  • Replace beach sand annually (60-100tons)
  • Provide aeration maintenance and repairs (lake filters, work with LG Sonic)
  • Conduct water quality testing/reporting/chemical treatments

Operations

  • Prepare the park for the summer season and close park for the winter season
  • Operate lawn mower, pressure washer, leaf blower, snow blower and chain saw
  • Mow, trim, mulch, remove leaves, plant, prune trees/flowers/shrubs; handle fertilization treatments
  • Order and pick up all supplies
  • Restock the lake with fish
  • Install all Christmas displays (design/create, repair, remove)
  • Must have access to a pick-up truck to avoid excessive delivery fees is preferred (transportation of pontoon boat to Portage Lakes for maintenance and general hauling of plants/trees/rock/topsoil/brush)

Administrative

  • Enforce all beach rules and Silver Lake Estates (SLE) trustee rules and regulations of the park
  • Interview/hire/train/terminate boathouse attendants and lifeguards
  • Secure and maintain all contracts (quotes/bids/approvals)
  • Complete routine paperwork: general record keeping, employee scheduling, payroll and boat lottery
  • Maintain all files
  • Obtain quotes for outsourced jobs
  • Develop/submit/adhere to annual budget
  • Attend all SLE quarterly board meetings and provide a full report with appropriate updates
  • Maintain American Red Cross trainer provider contract, training of lifeguards and certificates, lifeguard instructor training; order lifeguard uniforms and safety equipment
  • Arrange/orchestrate Cuyahoga Falls Fire Dept for lifeguard in-service and Ohio Dept of Natural Resources for all employee boat training
  • Host and assist with special events held at the park (setup and cleanup)
  • Manage facility upgrades as appropriate
  • Assist with developing annual newsletter and events
  • All other duties as required for the successful operation of the Silver Lake Estates park

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises 15-20 Lifeguards and 7-8 Boathouse Attendants during the summer months.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with residents, employees, external agencies and non-SLE residents
  • Able to manage conflicts diplomatically as they arise
  • Able to handle routine maintenance of park related equipment
  • Able to lift park related fixtures and equipment
  • Able to use a skid steer loader with tracks
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Access to a pick-up truck is preferred

Pay Range

  • Between $25 and $32 per hour depending on experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
